This Act amends the Valiamma Thampuran Kovilakam Estate and the Palace Fund (Partition) Act, 1961, which provided for partitioning the estate and Palace Fund of the former Cochin royal family. It redefines the "family" as the Marumakkathayam joint family made up of the four main branches (thavazhies), with effect from 28 December 1971, and makes related changes.
