Infectious disease in canal boats
The Travancore -Cochin Public Health Act, 1955Where any local authority within whose local area a canal or any part of a canal is situate, is informed that a person on board a canal boat is suffering from an infectious disease, such authority shall cause such steps to be taken as may be necessary for preventing the said disease from spreading and for that purpose may exercise the power of removing a person suffering as aforesaid and all other powers in relation to provisions against infection conferred by this Act and may also, if need be, detain the boat, but such boat shall not be detained for a longer time than is necessary for cleansing and disinfecting the same which in no case shall exceed forty-eight hours.
