Bare Act

The Thiruppuvaram Payment (Abolition) Act, 1969

General196935 sections

This Act abolishes a historical payment system known as Thiruppuvaram, which was a type of land revenue assigned to religious or charitable institutions in Kerala. It states that no one can receive or pay this money anymore, ending the obligation. However, to make up for this loss, the government will provide compensation to the institutions that used to receive these payments. The law applies to the former Travancore region in Kerala and comes into force on a date set by the government. It ensures that while the old financial arrangement is removed, the beneficiaries are financially supported.
