General198141 sections3 chapters
This law applies to the entire state of Kerala and aims to improve living conditions in slum areas by preventing health hazards and clearing unsafe structures. It allows the government to acquire land for rehabilitating slum dwellers and protects occupants from arbitrary eviction. The Act empowers authorities to declare specific areas as slums if they are unsanitary or dangerous, enabling necessary repairs, structural changes, and eventual clearance to ensure better safety and living standards for residents.
