The Kannan Devan Hills (Resumption of Lands) Act, 1971
General197121 sections
This Act empowers the government to take possession of all land in the Kannan Devan Hills revenue village in Kottayam district, extinguishing the rights of lessees who held land through documents related to John Daniel Munroe. The government does not take over plantations, buildings, public grounds, or personal cultivation areas. If a lessee needs specific land for their plantation's cultivation or protection, they can apply to a Land Board within sixty days. The Board will then determine if the land is necessary and restore possession to the lessee under the same terms.
