Bare Act
The Jenmikaram Payment (Abolition) Amendment Act, 1975
General19753 sections
This Act amends the Jenmikaram Payment (Abolition) Act, 1960 to establish a clear process for handling unclaimed compensation. It applies to situations where the entitled person, known as a jenmi, fails to receive their compensation within one year of the final roll. The law requires the Compensation Officer to issue a notice giving the person at least thirty days to claim the money. If the person does not appear or claim the funds within that time, the government deposits the full amount into the treasury with interest. Once deposited, no further interest accrues, ensuring that unclaimed funds are secured and managed by the state.
