Constituition of Dam Safety Authority.

(1) With effect from such date as the Government may, by notification in the gazette, appoint, there shall be constituted for the purpose of surveillance, inspection and advice on maintenance of dams situated within the territory of the State an authority to be called the Kerala Dam Safety Authority.

(2) The Authority shall be a body corporate by the name aforesaid, having perpetual succession and a common seal, and shall, by the said name, sue and be sued.

Explanation:- For the purpose of this Chapter,-

"dam" means any artificial barrier including appurtenant work constructed across a river or tributaries thereof with a view to impound or divert water for irrigation, drinking water supply or for any other purpose.
