Bare Act
The Higher Education Council ( amendment ) Act, 2008
This Act amends the Kerala State Higher Education Council Act of 2007 to improve how higher education is managed in the state. It changes the names of key governing bodies from Councils to Bodies to clarify their roles. The law expands the Council's duties to include studying student learning, promoting indigenous knowledge, and helping differently abled students access education. It also establishes better collaboration with national schemes like RUSA and sets common academic guidelines for universities. By giving the Governor and Visitor the power to seek expert advice, the legislation aims to strengthen oversight and ensure higher education in Kerala is more accessible, equitable, and scientifically sound.
