This Act provides legal framework for consolidating three different handloom weavers co-operative societies across Kerala—namely the Kozhikode society, the Trichur society (formerly Cochin Central), and the Trivandrum society (formerly Travancore Sreemoolam)—into a single state-level Apex society to strengthen their collective operations and market power throughout the entire State of Kerala. It includes provisions for voluntary amalgamation within a three-month period, with special power given to the Registrar of Co-operative Societies to mandate consolidation if societies fail to unite voluntarily, ensuring a unified organization for Handloom Weavers.
