Statutory text
Whoever places, or causes or permits to be placed, in any river, canal or other water, or in the sea within ten miles of the shore, the carcass or part of the carcass of any animal which at the time of its death was infective or which has been destroyed as being infective or suspected of being infective, shall be punishable, in the case of a first conviction, with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to Rs. 200, or with both, and, in the case of a second or subsequent conviction, with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to Rs. 500, or with both.
