The Kerala Contingency Fund Act, 1957
Finance19575 sections
This Act establishes a special reserve fund for the state of Kerala to handle unexpected expenses that arise suddenly. The government can withdraw money from this fund immediately to pay for urgent needs, such as emergencies, without waiting for the state legislature to approve the specific budget item first. The fund is held by the Finance Department and must be replenished once the legislature authorizes the spending through a law. This mechanism ensures the state can function smoothly and meet immediate financial obligations even when facing unforeseen challenges or crises.
