The Kerala Conservation of Paddy Land and Wetland Act, 2008

This Act stops the conversion and reclamation of paddy land and wetland in Kerala, in order to protect food production and the environment. Paddy land cannot be converted without permission, and wetland cannot be reclaimed at all. Local Level Monitoring Committees, a State Level Committee and District Level Authorised Committees oversee the Act, and the Government can give incentives for paddy cultivation.
