Powers of Police to investigate offences under section 24

Notwithstanding the provisions contained in the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, any Police Officer may investigate without the order of a Magistrate into an offence under Section 24 as if it were a cognizable case, but he shall not arrest without warrant from a Magistrate any person accused of offence under section 24.
