The Calicut University (Alternate Arrangement Temporarily of the Senate and Syndicate) Act, 2018

This Act addresses an administrative crisis at Calicut University, where the terms of the Senate and Syndicate expired, leaving the institution without a governing body. To ensure continuity, the Act empowers the State Government to nominate an interim body to exercise the powers and functions of these authorities. This arrangement is temporary, lasting for a maximum of eighteen months or until the Senate and Syndicate are reconstituted under the original Calicut University Act, 1975, whichever occurs first. It provides a legal framework to prevent governance paralysis, ensuring that academic and administrative operations continue smoothly for students, faculty, and staff during the transition period.
