The KARNATAKA SELECTION OF CANDIDATES FOR ADMISSION TO MEDICAL, DENTAL AND ENGINEERING COURSES (SPECIAL PROVISIONS) ACT, 2004
The Karnataka Selection of Candidates for Admission to Medical, Dental and Engineering Courses (Special Provisions) Act, 2004, was a time-bound legislative intervention enacted to regulate professional education admissions for the 2004-05 academic year. It established mandatory seat-sharing ratios between the government and private management quotas for aided, un-aided non-minority, and un-aided minority institutions. The Act mandated that all admissions be merit-based, conducted through Common Entrance Tests, and capped tuition fees via a Fee Determination Committee. It is historically significant for setting the precedent of state-regulated seat distribution and fee control in private professional colleges to ensure transparency and equity.
