The Karnataka Religious Structures (Protection) Act, 2021

General20218 sections

This Act protects religious structures like temples and mosques that were built on public land without legal permission before it came into force. It stops the government from allowing new religious construction on public places in the future without proper approval. While existing structures are safe, the government can still permit religious activities within them based on local customs and laws. The law also shields state officials from legal action if they follow the rules. Finally, it gives the government the power to make rules to handle any difficulties in implementing the law.
