This Act makes Kannada the official language of Karnataka. English may continue to be used for certain official purposes, and the Government can notify the purposes for which Kannada is to be used. It sets the language for business in the Legislature and for Bills and Acts, and provides for authorised Kannada translations of Central and State laws.
