This Act requires candidates who complete medical courses in Karnataka, at undergraduate, postgraduate and super-specialty levels, to do compulsory service in Government hospitals, mainly in rural areas, for a set period. Some candidates get priority or exemption, and there is a right of appeal. Those who do not complete the service face a penalty.
