The Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Amendment) Act, 2006

RAJENDRA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2006 AN ACT [JHARKHAND ACT 20, 2006] TO AMEND THE RAJENDRA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES ACT, 2002 Enacted in the 57th year of the Republic of India by the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly as follows:-

1. Short title, extent and commencement :- (i) This Act may be called the Rajendra Institue of Medical Sciences, (Amendment) Act 2006. (ii) This extends to the whole of Jharkhand. (iii) This Act shall come into force on a day to be fixed by notification in the official Gazette by the State Government.

2. Amendment in Section-7 :- Composition of Governing Council of RIMS. "Fifteen members" shall be substituted by "Thirteen members" in the sentence the "Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences shall be an autonomous institute and its management shall be vested in the Governing Council, which shall comprise "Fifteen members" and (i) "The Chief Secretary, Government of Jharkhand" shall be deleted and substituted by "The Minister, Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department, Jharkhand". (ii) "The Development Commissioner, Government of Jharkhand ex-officio" shall be deleted. (iii) "Two eminent medical experts of national repute to be nominated by the State Government" Shall be deleted and subsituted by "One medical expert having expertise of Medical Education matters to be nominated by the State Government".

3. Amendment in Section-10 :- The word "The Chief Secretary" and "The Development Commissioner" shall be deleted and substituted by "The Minister, Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department" and "Principal Secretary/Secretary, Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department" in the Sub-section (1) of Section 10.
