The Jharkhand State Road Development Fund Act 2011
Infrastructure201114 sections4 chapters
This Act creates a State Road Development Fund to finance road infrastructure projects throughout Jharkhand, such as building new roads and maintaining existing ones. It applies to the entire state and is supported by government grants, loans, and deposits. The main funding mechanism is a tax, or cess, imposed on the sale of petrol and diesel. This tax, which cannot exceed two rupees, is collected at a single point in the sales process. The law ensures these funds are used exclusively to improve the state's road network and connectivity.
