Local inquiry and reports.--

1. (1) A Panchayati Adalat may be directed by a Magistrate to make a local inquiry under section 202 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1989, in any case in which the offence was committed within the local limits of the jurisdiction of such Panchayati Adalat.
2. (2) Any Magistrate before whom a proceeding under the said Code is pending may require a husband or parent against whom the proceeding is pending, residing, to submit a report as to the amount of maintenance, if any, having regard to the circumstances of the case, which should be payable.
