The Jammu and Kashmir Town Area Committee Anantnag (Members' Continuance Validation) Act, 1971
1. Short title
This Act may be called the Jammu and Kashmir Town Area Committee Anantnag (Members' Continuance Validation) Act, 1971.
2. Validation
(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Jammu and Kashmir Town Area Act, 2011 or any rule or notification issued thereunder the term of office of the members of the Town Area Committee Anantnag shall be and shall always be deemed to have been validly extended from the date the term of office of the members of the said Committee expired up to such date after the commencement of this Act as the Government may by notification specify (which period shall hereinafter be referred to as 'the validation period'). (2) Anything done, any action taken, any power exercised or duty performed during the validation period by any person or persons purporting to act as a member or members of the said Town Area Committee, Anantnag, shall, so far as may be consistent with the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Town Area Act, 2011 and the rules made thereunder, be as good and valid as if the term of office of the members of the said Committee had been duly extended on the day on which such thing was done, action taken, power exercised or duty performed.
3. Bar of suits
No suit or other legal proceeding shall lie in any court against the Government or any person aforementioned exercising the powers and performing the duties as a member of the aforesaid Town Area Committee during the validation period, for anything in good faith done while purporting to exercise such powers or to perform such duties.
