The Enemy Agents Ordinance, 2005
General200520 sections
The Enemy Agents Ordinance, 2005 establishes a specialized criminal law framework for Jammu and Kashmir to target individuals who assist enemy forces or engage in espionage and sabotage. Applying to residents and state servants both within and outside the territory, it severely penalizes acts that aid enemy operations, endanger lives, or involve failing to report abandoned arms and explosives. Offenders face severe punishments, including life imprisonment or the death penalty. To expedite trials, the legislation empowers Special Judges with streamlined procedures, restricted rights to appeal, and authority to hold in-camera proceedings, prioritizing national defense and state security.
