This Act, officially titled the Kashmir Valley Embankment Act, 1992, came into operation on January 2, 1936, and establishes legal authority over the beds, banks, and immediate surroundings of the River Jhelum from Harnag Village to Khadanyar, along with connected water bodies like Nallahs, Nambals, and lakes. It empowers the Minister-in-Charge of the Irrigation Department to extend these provisions to other suitable areas.
