This Act was the Code of Civil Procedure for Jammu and Kashmir. It set out how civil courts are organised, their jurisdiction, and how civil suits are filed, tried and decided, including rules on res judicata, foreign judgments, and where suits must be filed. It governed procedure in civil cases in the State until the Central Code of Civil Procedure was extended to it in 2019.
