Bare Act
The Land Acquisition (Himachal Pradesh Amendment) Act, 1979
Civil19799 sections
This Act amends the Land Acquisition Act of 1894 to improve the process of acquiring land in Himachal Pradesh. It allows the Collector to correct clerical or arithmetic mistakes in awards within six months and requires the State Government to be notified of these corrections. The law also extends the deadline for filing applications to claim compensation from six weeks to six months if the applicant had a valid reason for the delay. Furthermore, it permits the immediate taking of possession of land for urgent public needs like railways, schools, and housing, provided the government gives prior approval and proper notice to the landowner.
