Bare Act
The Himachal Pradesh Road Infrastructure Protection Act, 2002
This Act regulates the preservation, maintenance, and safe operation of public road infrastructure across Himachal Pradesh. It applies to all individuals, businesses, and property owners operating near or interacting with state roads, bridges, drainage systems, and roadside lands. The law strictly prohibits illegal encroachments, unauthorized building, dumping debris, defacing fixtures, abandoning vehicles, and unauthorized digging or mining near roads. By establishing official maps, enforcement officers, penalties, and mandatory restoration costs, it holds offenders accountable. This legislation matters because it prevents road damage and safety hazards, protects taxpayer investments in public infrastructure, and ensures safe, unobstructed transit for everyone.
