The Himachal Pradesh Legislators (Modification of Allowances and Other Amenities) Act, 1979
This Act modifies the financial benefits, travel entitlements, and administrative allowances for Ministers, the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Members of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. It provides free nationwide railway travel up to twenty thousand kilometers annually for state leaders and an accompanying person, and introduces options for house-building advances in place of motor-car loans. It also increases telephone, secretarial, and constituency allowances for legislators to assist them in fulfilling their official duties. Additionally, the Act authorizes the state government to recover any outstanding public dues or unpaid loans directly from a legislator’s ongoing allowances or post-retirement pension.
