Bare Act

The Haryana Public Wakfs (Extension of Limitation) Act, 1978

Civil19784 sections

This law extends the time limit for people to file lawsuits to recover possession of immovable property that are part of public wakfs, which are religious or charitable properties dedicated by Muslims. It specifically helps those who were dispossessed of such property between August 14, 1947, and May 7, 1954, or whose possession became adverse during that period. The law extends the limitation period until December 31, 1980, allowing rightful owners to reclaim their property that was wrongfully taken during this transitional period after India's independence.
