The Haryana Private Lotteries (Prohibition) Act, 1993 bans all privately organized lotteries across the state of Haryana. It applies to individuals, companies, firms, and associations attempting to conduct, promote, organize, or assist in any lottery scheme not authorized by the State or Central Government. Anyone violating the law faces penalties including up to six months of imprisonment, a fine up to two thousand rupees, or both. For corporate violations, responsible company leaders can be held personally liable unless they prove lack of knowledge or due diligence. This law protects the public from unauthorized, potentially fraudulent gambling activities.
