The Haryana Legislative Member's Pension and Medical Facilities Act, 1986
1. Short title and commencement
(1) This Act may be called the Haryana Legislative Member's Pension and Medical Facilities Act, 1986. (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of April, 1986.
2. Definitions
In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "House" means the Haryana Legislative Assembly; (b) "Member" means a member of the House; and (c) "Speaker" means the Speaker of the House.
3. Pension
(1) With effect from the commencement of this Act, there shall be paid a pension of one thousand rupees per mensem to every person who has served as a member of the Haryana Legislative Assembly or of the Punjab Legislative Assembly for any period or periods, whether before or after the commencement of the Constitution of India and whether before or after the 1st day of November, 1966.
Provided that where any such person has served as a member for a period exceeding five years, he shall be paid an additional pension of fifty rupees per mensem for each year in excess of five years.
(2) The pension shall be payable to such person for the period after the commencement of this Act during his lifetime.
4. Gratuity
There shall be paid to a person, who has been a member of the Legislative Assembly, a gratuity of such amount as may be prescribed, on the expiry of his term of office or on his ceasing to be a member.
5. Family pension
In the event of the death of a person who is entitled to pension under this Act, his family shall be entitled to receive family pension at such rate as may be prescribed.
6. Medical facilities
Every person entitled to pension under this Act shall be entitled to such medical facilities for himself and his family members as may be prescribed.
