The Haryana Legislative Assembly (Facilities to Members) Act, 1979

(1) This Act may be called the Haryana Legislative Assembly (Facilities to Members) Act, 1979.

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) "Assembly" means the Haryana Legislative Assembly; (b) "Member" means a member of the Assembly; (c) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act; (d) "State" means the State of Haryana; (e) "travel" means travel by air, rail, road or steamer.

Subject to the rules made in this behalf, there shall be provided to every member the following facilities, namely:— (i) free transit by rail or road within the State; (ii) free accommodation in the hostels or rest houses maintained by the State Government; (iii) such other facilities as may be prescribed.

The State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, make rules for carrying out the purposes of this Act.

(1) A member and the members of his family shall be entitled to such medical facilities as are for the time being admissible to a Class I officer of the State Government. (2) For the purpose of sub-section (1), "family" in relation to a member means his wife, or as the case may be, her husband, and legitimate children and step-children, wholly dependent upon the member and residing with him or her.

Every member shall be entitled to such telephone facilities at his residence in the State as may be prescribed.

Every member shall be entitled to have such stenographic assistance as may be prescribed.

(1) Every member shall be provided with a free non-transferable pass which shall entitle him to travel at any time by any public service vehicle of the Haryana Roadways. (2) The facility of free transit shall be subject to such conditions as may be prescribed for the purpose of ensuring that the pass is used only by the member to whom it is issued. (3) The free transit shall include, where necessary, the facility of travel, by such class and in such manner, by railway or other public transport, as it may be prescribed.
