Bare Act
The Haryana Home Guards Act, 1974
Defence197412 sections
This law establishes the Haryana Home Guards to help protect people, property, and public safety in the state. It allows the government to recruit members and appoint officers to manage this force. The Act requires employers to let their employees join Home Guard duty, though they don't have to pay them for more than 30 days a year. When called out, members have police-like powers and legal protections, but they must obey orders. The government can also use this force to directly assist the police. Finally, it sets penalties for members who refuse duty or employers who discriminate against employees for joining.
