Bare Act
The Haryana Anatomy Act, 1974
The Haryana Anatomy Act, 1974 provides a legal framework for obtaining and using unclaimed dead bodies to advance medical education, scientific research, anatomical examination, dissection, and therapeutic treatments across Haryana. When a person dies in a hospital, prison, or public place and no family member claims the body within the time set by state rules, designated government officials hand the body over to approved medical colleges and hospitals. For an ordinary citizen, this law ensures that deceased individuals without family are treated with dignity through scientific use, while establishing clear legal rights for genuine relatives to claim their loved ones' bodies and prevent unauthorized disposal or interference.
