The Gujarat University Laws (Amendment) Act, 1980

This Act amends five university laws to define officers and employees as public servants under Indian law. It inserts new sections into the Maratha Sayajirao University of Baroda Act, the Gujarat University Act, the Sardar Patel University Act, the South Gujarat University Act, and the Saurashtra University Act. These new sections explicitly state that university staff are deemed public servants within the meaning of Section 21 of the Indian Penal Code, clarifying their legal responsibilities and status.
