The Gujarat Universities and the Local Authorities Laws (Amendment) Act, 1979
This Act amends the laws governing the Maharaja Sayaji Rao University of Baroda to protect its employees' retirement savings. It requires that any provident fund established by the university be deposited in the state government treasury instead of being held privately. From that point on, the university staff members earn interest on their accounts at the same rate paid to government servants and can withdraw money under similar rules. The change specifically applies only to funds not already covered by federal pension laws, offering university workers better financial security by aligning their benefits with public sector standards.
