Statutes

Subject to such conditions as may be prescribed by or under the provisions of this Act, the Statutes may provide for all or any of the following matters, namely:-

1. (i) conferment of honorary degrees;
2. (ii) holding of convocations to confer degrees;
3. (iii) powers and duties of the officers of the University;
4. (iv) constitution, powers and duties of the authorities of the University save as provided in this Act;
5. (v) institution and maintenance by the University of departments, institutes of research or specialised studies and hostels;
6. (vi) acceptance and management of bequests, donations and endowments;
7. (vii) registration of graduates and maintenance of a register of registered graduates;
8. (viii) procedure at meetings of the authorities of the University and for the transaction of their business;
9. (ix) qualifications of professors, readers, lecturers and teachers in affiliated colleges and recognized institutions;
10. (x) the maximum number of students to be admitted in a college;
11. (xi) all matters which by this Act are to be or may be prescribed by the Statutes.
