Supply of electricity and exemption from duty

(1) Any person generating electricity in the Zone, may supply electricity to the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. or Distribution Licensees after obtaining approval from the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission constituted under the Gujarat Electricity Industry (Reorganisation and Regulation) Act, 2003, and upon the terms and conditions agreed to by the said person and the purchaser. (2) The Unit located in the processing area of the Zone or in the demarcated area shall be exempted from the electricity duty under the Bombay Electricity Duty Act, 1958, for a period of ten years from the date of production in the case of manufacturing Unit and from the date of supply of services in case of service Unit.
