This Act regulates the fees charged by self-financed (private unaided) schools in Gujarat. Fee Regulatory Committees decide the fees schools may charge, based on factors such as location, infrastructure, staff salaries and expenditure. Schools must issue receipts for fees paid, maintain proper accounts, and not charge more than the fee fixed. Contraventions are penalised.

- 12. The acknowledgement of receipt of the total collected fee from the parents shall be given in the form of counter-foil from bank and concerned school, as the case may be.

- 14. Contraventions and penalties
- 15. However, if the school management fails to make the payment of fine and refund within three months, than the entire unpaid amount shall be recovered as an arrear of land revenue.
