The Gujarat Public Safety (Measures) Enforcement Act, 2022
The Gujarat Public Safety (Measures) Enforcement Act, 2022
This Act mandates that owners or managers of establishments with significant public footfall in notified areas of Gujarat must install and maintain specific public safety measures. These measures primarily include access control systems and CCTV cameras capable of storing footage for at least thirty days. The law establishes Public Safety Committees to oversee compliance, conduct inspections, and issue safety instructions. Establishments are required to implement these recommendations within six months. Failure to comply results in monetary penalties, and the Act provides a mechanism for appeals to the District Magistrate. It aims to enhance security in public spaces through standardized surveillance and access management.
