Bare Act

Payment of Unemployed Allowance to Workmen In Factories Act, Gujarat Year 1981

Labour19819 sections

This Act provides financial support to workers in Gujarat who lose their jobs due to power shortages or other specific reasons related to electricity regulations. It applies to factories with ten or more employees. If an employer cannot give work to an enrolled worker because of energy cuts, shift closures, or imposed holidays, the employer must pay an unemployment allowance. This allowance equals 50 percent of the worker's daily basic wages and dearness allowance. The payment lasts for the average number of days the worker actually worked in the previous year, ensuring they receive partial income during these periods of forced unemployment.
