The Gujarat Lokayukta Aayog Act, 2013
The Gujarat Lokayukta Aayog Act, 2013 establishes an independent anti-corruption ombudsman agency called the Lokayukta Aayog in the State of Gujarat. It empowers citizens to file formal complaints against public functionaries—including Ministers, Mayors, Municipal Chairpersons, Panchayat leaders, and State Government employees—who commit corrupt practices or abuse their official authority. The Act sets up structured multi-member benches to conduct confidential inquiries, collect evidence with civil court powers, and issue recommendations or binding declarations. By enabling accountability at both state and grassroots government levels, the law protects citizens from administrative malpractices while imposing strict penalties on frivolous or malicious complaints.
