Bare Act
The Gujarat Commissioners (Abolition of Office) Act, 1964
This Act abolishes the office of Commissioner of a division in Gujarat State, which was previously established under the Bombay Land Revenue Code. It applies to all of Gujarat and ends the Commissioner's official role through a specified appointed day. Pending proceedings before the Commissioner are transferred to the State Government or other designated officers. Any orders made by the Commissioner that can be reviewed can be reopened by the State Government. The Act ensures a smooth transition by having existing laws mention the State Government instead of the Commissioner. This legislation reorganizes administrative structure by consolidating certain government functions under state-level control rather than division-based Commissioner offices.
