The Goa Vexatious Litigation (Prevention) Act, 2007

General20076 sections

The Goa Vexatious Litigation (Prevention) Act, 2007 aims to curb the abuse of the judicial system by individuals who repeatedly file baseless or harassing lawsuits in the state of Goa. Under this law, the Advocate General or an affected victim can apply to the High Court to declare someone a vexatious litigant if they habitually institute groundless civil or criminal cases. Once declared, such individuals are legally restricted from starting or continuing any legal proceedings without prior permission from the High Court or a District and Sessions Judge. This Act protects citizens from harassment and ensures court resources are preserved for genuine legal disputes.
