The Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Act, 2025
This Act provides a legal framework to update the political representation of Scheduled Tribes (ST) in the Goa Legislative Assembly. Because the last official census used for delimitation was conducted in 2001, this law empowers the Census Commissioner to estimate the current ST population and authorizes the Election Commission to adjust constituency boundaries accordingly. It ensures that ST communities receive fair political representation in line with constitutional mandates. For the ordinary citizen, this means the electoral map of Goa may be redrawn to better reflect current demographic realities, ensuring that specific communities have a direct voice in the state legislature.
