Bare Act
The Goa Members of the Legislative Assembly (Special Rights) Act, 1995
General19955 sections
This Act provides special unpaid leave to Members of the Legislative Assembly in Goa who are employed in government-aided educational institutions. It allows elected MLAs holding specific high offices, such as Speaker, Minister, or Leader of the Opposition, to take leave from their teaching jobs to serve in government. If an MLA does not hold these specific positions, they can still receive leave to attend legislative duties upon certification by the Speaker. This leave is counted as service time for retirement benefits and seniority, ensuring elected officials can balance their public service roles with their employment without losing job security.
