AMENDMENT) ACT, 1954
The Societies Registration (Delhi Amendment) Act, 1954
Corporate19549 sections
This Act amends the Societies Registration Act to allow registered societies in Delhi to officially change their names. It introduces a new process where a society's governing body can propose a name change, which must be agreed upon and confirmed before being sent to the Registrar. The Registrar will then register the change and issue a certificate, provided the new name is not identical to another society or likely to mislead the public. The Act also clarifies that changing a name does not affect the society's legal rights or obligations. Additionally, it provides a way for societies that already changed their names before the 1954 amendment to obtain a formal certificate.
