General19704 sections
This Act amends the Indian Fisheries Act, 1897 to regulate fishing and water quality in the Union territory of Goa, Daman and Diu. It inserts the term "fishing stakes" into the definition of fishing equipment and amends section 6 to empower the government to ban fishing except under specific leases or licences and to prohibit the discharge of harmful industrial effluents into water. Additionally, the Act repeals certain older laws from 1924 and 1933 but preserves any rights, obligations, or legal proceedings that have already been established under them.
