Bare Act
The Goa, Daman and Diu Public Moneys (Recovery of Dues) Act, 1986
The Act provides a mechanism for the speedy recovery of financial dues owed to the government, state-controlled financial corporations, government companies, and public or nationalized banks in Goa, Daman, and Diu. It applies to individuals, businesses, and industrial undertakings that have defaulted on loans, grants, financial assistance, or government-sponsored developmental schemes. Instead of initiating lengthy civil lawsuits, authorized officials can issue recovery certificates to the district Collector to collect unpaid monies directly as arrears of land revenue. This law matters because it ensures efficient reclamation of public funds, prevents prolonged court litigation, and safeguards state financial resources.
