Bare Act

The Goa, Daman and Diu Diseases of Animals Act, 1974

General197438 sections2 chapters

This Act provides a legal framework to prevent, control, and eradicate contagious diseases affecting domestic and captive animals within the territory. It empowers authorities to appoint veterinary surgeons and inspectors, declare eradication or infected zones, establish quarantine stations along movement routes, and mandate the isolation, treatment, or humane destruction of infected livestock. It applies to animal owners, caretakers, veterinary practitioners, and transport operators, requiring them to report disease outbreaks, restrict animal movement, and maintain proper sanitation. By managing animal health risks and stopping disease spread, the law protects public health, safeguards livestock-dependent livelihoods, and ensures agricultural stability across the region.
